Just terminology - the 5 minutes is a “consideration period”; the “grace period” is ten minutes allowed after the expiry of the ticket when parking is paid for.

Please read https://www.ftla.uk/private-parking-tickets/read-this-first-private-parking-charges-forum-guide/ and post the PCN, your appeal and their response to help us be able to help you further.

GXS has used BW Legal in the past, who will file a county court claim against you, so think of what your defence to a claim might be. For example, it has been ruled that waiting for a space in a car park is not parking, however the fact that you subsequently didn’t park might make this harder to argue.

I have been sent a parking ticket, and had the initial appeal dismissed by GXS Parking.

I entered a car park in Worthing after seeing some people walk back to their car, took a few mins for them to pack up and leave - I pulled into their space and walked to a payment machine and queued to use it - but found it is cash-only so had to return to car and leave the site for somewhere else (who actually has cash on them these days).

GXS still after their pound of flesh, ANPR cameras show me leaving site 6 minutes 58 seconds after entering (no evidence of the car actually parked) - I have read there is a 5 minute grace period but surely that is still within reasonable timings all things considered? GXS dismissed appeal so it now has gone to IAS. Is it just a question of holding firm now? Many thanks.
