Title: Re: Advice on Parkingeye Fines at Gym
Post by: srai01 on April 14, 2026, 09:36:24 am
Hi, really appreciate for the reply. Thanks for letting me know there were others in the same position, I managed to find the one you were talking about reply to their post.

As for the gym themselves, they made it pretty clear they have no power to cancel the fines as they do not own the land that the car park is on.

Thanks.

This is the second time this scenario has come up in the last couple of weeks.

If I remember correctly, the signage does not mention the need for the Evology account.

Approach the gym to get it cancelled?

Post up the PCNs, appeals and rejection. I suspect you have ID'd the driver which was probably your best defence, but if the signage was deficient then a POPLA appeal might be successful.
Title: Advice on Parkingeye Fines at Gym
Post by: srai01 on April 13, 2026, 07:16:31 pm
Hi all, my gym recently introduced a parking permit system with 5 hours free parking per visit. I thought I had a valid permit, but it turns out I hadn’t signed up to Evology and linked a payment card.

The signage at the car park doesn’t mention needing an Evology account—only a link to the permit application, which I completed. The website said my permit was valid, so I assumed I was covered.

Weeks later, I received multiple fines from Parkingeye at my family address (where my car is registered) for parking at the gym. Appeals to Parkingeye were rejected, and the gym says they can’t help as they don’t own the land. I’ve now set up Evology and haven’t received further fines.

Is there any legal ground to contest these fines, or should I just pay? The total is several hundred pounds, which I can’t afford.

Thanks in advance.
