The good Dr won't have been done 3 times for 22mph in a 20. Our main sample set is from here, but generally most of the outraged about receiving a ticket for speeding will invariably say they were only doing 10% or less over the speed limit.
In my local there are at least 3 blokes who swear blind a camera got them at 31mph in a 30. I tend to politely tell them they are talking out of their hoop.

That thing that will annoy me about that Kemi statement is no one will pull her up on it.
Do they honestly think that the same Police staff processing NIPs and COFPs are all frontline officers? I'm not sure I want Janine from the Dog & Duck investigating my house burglary.

The Met prosecutes at 24mph in 20mph limits or it did in 2023.
One Traffic Offence Report at 23mph.

On this forum, on occasions where a driver has claimed to have seen action taken against him for driving below (Limit + 10% + 2mph), he is often asked if he would provide some proof of that. So far as I can recall, none has ever been forthcoming.
Based on that, and the Met’s assertion that they comply with the NPCC’s guidelines, I simply do not believe that a driver has seen action for 22 in a 20 limit on three occasions.

"Tory leader says police should be catching thieves rather than targeting motorists"
An old friend of mine - a retired Chief Constable - used to respond with "If they were any good at catching thieves they wouldn't be working in traffic."

Mrs Badenoch went on to recall being told by an MP about a taxi driver in their constituency who lost his licence after driving at 21mph three times in a 20mph zone.
Taxi drivers and politicians being two professions that are seldom prone to exaggeration...

There's quite a few other reports on the back of that one, though some seem to credit The Telegraph with the original story.
Inevitably it's being politicised by various media, here in the Telegraph via archive ph
Badenoch: Drivers shouldn’t be fined for doing 22 in a 20mph zone (https://archive.ph/js7Lk)
Tory leader says police should be catching thieves rather than targeting motorists
Kemi Badenoch has suggested that motorists should not be fined for exceeding 20mph speed limits by a couple of miles per hour.
The Conservative Party leader argued that enforcing the lower limit was not always a good use of police time as shoplifting and burglaries surge nationwide...........
Between 2017 and 2023, the equivalent of one in every four cars registered in London was given a speeding fine for exceeding 20mph.
Mrs Badenoch went on to recall being told by an MP about a taxi driver in their constituency who lost his licence after driving at 21mph three times in a 20mph zone.
She continued: “That’s his livelihood. I’m not sure that that’s fair

Apologies for mentioning the Daily Fail, so this is unlikely to have much relation to the truth, but they are claiming that Dr Gary Duffield, a London Psychiatrist has done a course and accepted 2 more 3 point penalties all for 22MPH in a 20. (So 3 NIPs for 22MPH) as well as another for 25MPH so another one and he is paying for taxis for 6 months...
(Google reveals there is indeed a Dr Gary Duffield)
The MET publicly claim to follow the "10% plus 2" guidelines, so either the article is distorting the truth somewhat or the MET are getting nearer to zero tolerance.
If you want to read it https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15726257/Psychiatrist-faces-road-ban-22mph-breaking-unjust-limit.html
I note that they claim that he received a course and a fine for the first offence, so they aren't overly bothered about factual accuracy (who knew!)
The same article appears in the Torygraph, but I refuse to give them an email address to access it.
A pity he didn't post his NIPs on here.....
It didn't mention whether these were cameras though, or if he was followed at speed and 22 was the minimum.
