Title: Re: Bollard badly positioned.

As you drove up, you would have seen the bollard. It is no one elses responsibility, other than yours as driver, to make everyone aware there is a bollard there before they open the doors. Just as if a passenger of yours opened their door into a passing car, or a child.

If you parked in the bay, and you opened the door, as you say, then why were you getting out the passenger side?

The usual reason for these bollards is to stop vehicles from mounting the curb. Being that there is only one and it is in this location it may have been added in relation to the Dray delivering to the Pub.

Google Maps suggests it has been there since at least 2008.

Ok can someone enlighten me on the reason of a bollard in such a position next to the parking bay. It's the only one on the street like this and I have never seen one so close to a bay before.

To prevent vehicles driving over the manhole cover?

Looks like a public road so ask the local council why it is there. But even if for no reason at all it still won't make them liable for opening your car door into it.

No claim off someone else whatsoever, the fact you failed to look out the car window to check for obstructions (such as a passing pedestrian) is only down to you.

Hi, so I parked in a an official parking bay. Paid parking. When I opened the door, it hit a bollard which dented my car. There is no reason for this bollard to be where it is. Is it worth raising a complaint and claiming damages? It's a tiny dent but I think the bollard is completely missing positioned. Pics attached.
