@smulx to be honest that was probably the best outcome, I've still not got hold of the traffic order and the council has confirmed the camera is an SEA Flexi and while the certificate they have doesn't mention this specific model, but I can't say their camera is definitely not approved so it would have been risky to appeal on that alone.
The only real angle here would have been the signage, but if going back to get photos was not an option then that couldn't have been pursued either, so on balance paying the discounted penalty was probably the most sensible option.

doesn't matter now, I had to pay it

Is it possible to get any advice on this one please? I only have a few days left until the discount ends, so I'm thinking I'll just need to pay it as I don't know what grounds I have to dispute.
Thanks

Unfortunately I'm not sure if I'll get chance to get into town to take pictures. Any advice on my grounds to dispute without that would be appreciated. I'll update if I do get chance, but I think it's unlikely before the discount expires.
Thanks again

There's various enquiries I've made about the traffic order and the camera approval, but the starting point would be the signage. The discount doesn't expire until 17 December, so if you're going back in a couple of weeks that should give us a week or so to sort something out.

The road markings on google street view from 2021 looks very worn and they may well have vanished entirely. Would you be able to pop back and get us some updates pictures please?
Unfortunately not, it's a bit out of the way for me and it might be a couple of weeks before I can get back there. Would I have any other grounds to dispute it without knowing about the lines?
Thanks

This is where the video was taken --round the corner from where the bus lane starts:-

Which means you can't get to the Central Station without going all the way to the Tyne Bridge roundabout and turning back on yourself.
Truly Newcastle's planners are a class apart.

Can you give us a link to the exact spot on google street view please? I'm frankly not sure how that video proves anything.
Other issues to explore are the traffic order and the camera approval, but I need the exact location first.
Here's the location of the beginning of the bus lane - Streetview (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Pinocchio+Ristorante/@54.9699011,-1.6160439,3a,75y,140.59h,77.5t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sGuQ8nvZOop8eUjYOpLFcKQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192!4m17!1m9!3m8!1s0x487e77482863d56b:0x3984e8cdf4e4cbb1!2sWestgate+Rd,+Newcastle+upon+Tyne!3b1!8m2!3d54.971932!4d-1.630738!10e5!16s%2Fg%2F1td1_v03!3m6!1s0x487e70b50338316b:0xc12ee29228df4b60!8m2!3d54.969973!4d-1.6173978!10e5!16s%2Fg%2F1txnp0f9?entry=ttu).
The video appears to show the part of the road that curves off to the right. Please let me know if you need any more info from me.
I checked my dashcam and unfortunately the video has been overwritten.

extra pages attached.
Also, there is a useful response on the other form. The poster points out that the road markings begin 10m before the signage. Not sure how significant that is.

I avoid driving in Newcastle mostly because of the bus lanes. I'm sure they've intentionally been set up in a way that maximises revenue. They usually only exist for short stretches of road, but often the different stretches alternate sides of the road, so unless you know where they all are, it's difficult to stay out of them.
On this occasion, I waited at the lights in the picture below. I didn't know a bus lane was coming up until I got there, and I had to stop where the green mark is. The issue is though, the other lane was totally gridlocked, where I've marked red. I waited a bit and the traffic didn't budge. By then, I had a queue of vehicles behind me that had started beeping and flashing their lights because I was blocking them all. With the other lane showing no sign of starting to move, I just had to drive through the bus lane.
In the council's picture you can see the traffic in the other lane, but I can't prove I got stuck, not able to move over. I might have dash cam footage, but will the council care about this? The street view image below is from 2021 which shows the road marking are very faint, but I'm not sure what they're like now as it was dark when I was there.
I'm not sure if I have any case, but thought it might be worth asking.
Thanks
