Update this thread if you get a PCN.

They may cancel when you explain you jumped the gun on this.
Title: Silvertown tunnel charge
Post by: njw84 on March 16, 2026, 02:42:38 pm
Last week I got a new car, and drove through the Silvertown tunnel in my old car to make the exchange for the new one.  This old car was registered for autopay.

I then collected the new car and stopped at my parents before driving back later in the evening.  In the afternoon I removed the old car, and added the new one.

I have now found that I will receive a PCN as I should've removed the old car the following day.  So despite the car being registered for autopay at the time of the journey I will receive a PCN as by removing it on the day in question it now says I didn't have autopay set-up for it.

This is compounded as on their site it states to wait 5 days for journeys to appear, which I have now done and seen the old one still missing.  But given the 3 days timing has elapsed I will get a PCN.  The autopay history also states the car was registered "to 09/03/2026" when I made the journey so I thought it was OK and I had done everything right.

I've now seen the T&Cs and see that I've made an error, but this seems unfair in the extreme.  Will I have any chance if I contest this?
