Wrong license plate entered in private parking
« on: »
My dad got a PCN for not paying for his parking, but it seems he put in the wrong license plate. See his explanation below:

I parked and paid the fee for parking.
Unfortunately the number plate was written wrong on the parking app.
The letters are correct but the figures were changed around, 86 instead of 68

He of course wants to appeal as this was an accident and he has proof that he paid for the parking. What is the best way to appeal this? Would they be understanding of this mishap? Thanks

As this is a Council Penalty, you need to request that this is moved to the appropriate forum.

@mrmustard any views on this one?
I practice law in the Traffic Penalty Tribunal, London Tribunals, the First-tier tribunal for Scotland, and the Traffic Penalty Tribunal for Northern Ireland, but I am not a solicitor or a barrister. Notwithstanding this, I voluntarily apply the cab rank rule. I am a member of the Society of Professional McKenzie Friends, my membership number is FM193 and I abide by the SPMF service standards.

yes, the OP should challenge saying they made a simple error and they believe the council has a policy of forgiving the first such error, please exercise it
I help you pro bono (for free). I now ask that a £40 donation is made to the North London Hospice before I take over your case. I have an 85% success rate across 2,000 PCNs but some PCNs can't be beaten and I will tell you if your case looks hopeless before asking you to donate.
