Good afternoon good folks of FTLA,

Driver was visiting Oxford for the day (a last minute visit with daughter to Ox Brooks open day). Driver does not have local knowledge. Driver unknowingly made a prohibited left turn, as was focussed more on sat nav and road awareness, rather than additional traffic signs.

Unsure of signage on approach to that location, but there is a clear no left turn sign (except busses) at the actual give way point!

I have just received a PCN for £70, as registered keeper of the vehicle. PCN dated 28 Aug 25, with the usual dialogue about '50% off' if paid within 21 days.

Unsure if any grounds to challenge.

The area in Q is appears to be a roundabout and the pictures do not prove that the car did not travel around the roundabout before making a turn.

Worth asking for a video DVD (I have seen such posts, having read through some old threads)

Hopefully links below to the PCN and street view work satis.

As this is a traffic violation, I assume these CC ones cannot just be ignored (unlike private parking companies, who usually give up after a few months, given they have no jurisdiction).

Thanks in advance and keep up the good work.

Assuming they have up to date library images of the signage the contravention seems made out.

We don't see many Oxfordshire PCNs so someone may see something on the paperwork.

Ah. That's quite clear then!

Well no doubt the lest turn was made. And there is at least one clear sign.

Looks like the driver may be bang to rights on this one.

When did the council start enforcing this restriction by camera? If less than 6 months they have to give a warning notice rather than a penalty notice. The council also needs permission from the government transport minister to use the camera to enforce the restriction. At the very minimum you should require the council to prove they have permission to use the camera to enforce this restriction.

Thank you.
That's a helpful tip. I will write to them and ask the question.

It was around this time last year that the Cameras went up...as people were not obeying the restriction on the highly back angled direct left turn off Cowley Rd onto Iffley Rd at The Plain roundabout.
Decision to install them was made in late 2023

The restriction itself has been in force for maybe 10 years.
Here is the view approaching the turn
