I didn’t even realise I was going throng a bus lane. I’m so used to road marking saying “bus lane” and when I didn’t see it I thought it was ok to drive in that lane. On top the solid white line had another line next to it with separated lines.
The TfL customer advisor was so rude sayings “it’s the law it’s illegal to drive over solid white line according to Highway Code”. he said it doesn’t matter if the road marking said “bus stop” but not “bus lane”. And said the start of the road showed a sign on a pole showing it’s a bus lane.
However it’s such a long road why would you look at the start of the road for the bus lane sign if you think it appears like a normal road lane that you can drive through?
I’ve never had a bus lane ticket in my life and it’s little coincidence that that the main reason for that is the road marking always said “bus lane” so if you missed the pole with the bus lane information at the start of a long road atleast you can see clearly it says bus lane.
Further the agent was reluctant to tell me I could get video footage and I had to push him to admit that I could request video footage!
Any help is much appreciated thank you
