Stopped at bus stop [cc 47J]
« on: »
I allegedly stopped opposite a train station. The bus stop is badly marked and the yellow line is poorly maintained. The PCN just doesn't look right to me as Balgores Road is really Balgores Lane and the timings [on the second line] seem missing. Is this enough for it to be cancelled ? The registration plate is visible in part of the accompanying video but it seems the shot on the PCN was taken during the zoom out portion of the recording where it is too blurred.

Oh and all the markings of the bus stop are digitally obscured - I'm not sure why.

Hoping someone will know more than I do about this.

You've blanked-out too much. We need to see the video, and to do that we need PCN Number and car registration. The only bus stop I can find around there is on Station Road: -

The road markings are worn, but still recognisable, so an adjudicator will consider them clear enough, and the mandatory sign is there: -

if this had been missing, you'd be in with a chance.

So why did you stop there ?

Thank you for your reply, It's hard to explain but I have personal security reasons that prevent me from giving vehicle reg. and PCN No. in open forum [I can DM them to you]. The bus stop you link to is the one in question although there is no way I would have been able to read the sign you linked to [can you please explain it as it is very blurred in the image].I would've stopped in a bay outside the station to wait for my son to be safely in my car [who has learning difficulties and needs routine] but there was a delay on the train which led him to panic so he needed to know I was there to prevent a panic attack escalating. As I saw ahead a vacant bay I headed for it only to see another vehicle take it and the only option I could see was to stop at the furthest end of the bus stop [Do both roads of the junction need to be named exactly and timings on the second line of the PCN have to be included to validate it ?].

OK, you have "personal reasons", but your car registration is visible the whole time it's on the road for all to see.  At the moment, and also from your second reply, you look to be 'bang-to-rights'. For your information for future driving in London, virtually all bus stops with a shelter like the one in the GSV view are controlled and stopping in them is barred.
The sign in the GSV extract says "No stopping except buses"

Considering the bus stop is not on the junction, (how could it be !), I am surprised they have used two street names as the location, because there is only one bus stop on Station Road on that side, but I suspect it is not an appeal winner.
As for the timings, I suggest you look at their video, (the sole evidence), and satisfy yourself the time on the PCN is correct.

Essentially, you appear not to have realised the restrictions for bus stops and their enforcement using CCTV, hence the PCN. I can only suggest you submit representations based on mitigation explaining the circumstances, (your son). Post up their reply here when you get it.
