I think Equita just sent a template reply and you have no other PCN.

What you did was jump straight to the enforcement agents (bailiffs) on Cumberland County Council's site. They could not be involved with a windscreen PCN issued last month.

You have 2 opportunities to challenge a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) depending on what stage it is at.

To chase up the PCN, contact Cumberland parking services:

We need to see the original email so we can be sure it isn't a scam
I am currently too busy working to take on any except the most unreasonable PCNs.

I help you pro bono (for free). I now ask that a £40 donation is made to the North London Hospice before I take over your case. I have an 85% success rate across 2,000 PCNs but some PCNs can't be beaten and I will tell you if your case looks hopeless before asking you to donate.

In the email, it says this: -
Quote
Following your recent correspondence, the content of which has been noted.
So can we please see this correspondence.

Bailiffs cannot just send an email, they first have to send, by post a letter which commences their enforcement, giving the amount owed and the enforcing authority they are acting for.

There is something definitely not right about this thread. Too much missing.

As the OP said, they emailed Equita instead of the council about the PCN.

Equita sent back a template email.

I really doubt there is anything more to it and provided the logbook is correct the OP will receive an NTO, or can call the council to get PCN details.

I think you're on the money here. By accident, the OP did not follow the instructions on the website or PCN(there wouldn't be any mention of Equita on a PCN) and has set a hare running. As suggested by others, it's improbable that when the OP wrote to Equita thinking they were dealing with the council they didn't include their PCN number, so all the OP needs to do is to look at their email to Equita.

OP, this is Cumberland Council's relevant web page:

Contact with Equita, or Newlyns or Capita for that matter, does not arise until the preceding process has been followed and exhausted.

OP, if the PCN was served on 12th Jan, then the earliest you could be served with a NTO is tomorrow(today is day 28). If you want to try and squeeze in informal reps, then contact the council tomorrow and find out your PCN number, or perhaps it is on your email to Equita

After many phone calls this morning, I have managed to pay the ticket at the original price of £50

Basically Equita had not informed the local council I had contacted them about the lost ticket.
Keswick Council put me on to Cumberland Council who put me through to customer service who gave me an email address for parking who then sent me the Lost PCN number,

Equita are a bit naughty so watch out for them

No - you wrongly contacted Equita which obviously could know nothing about it.

Bailiffs are not the nicest of companies but they are blameless here as you failed to contact the council.

Thanks stamfordman and yes, I did contact the wrong people as the website mentioned Equita and not a simple way to discuss a lost ticket.
Equita should have told me I needed to contact the PCN authority but they didn't
Shame you could not have given me that advice rather than tell me I am wrong after the event.
At least some people were helpful rather than be know it alls
