Newham PCN While Driving In Hire Van
« on: July 04, 2024, 05:22:43 pm »
During my use of a rental van, I managed to receive a PCN for failing to comply with a restriction on vehicles entering a pedestrian zone (Camera enforcement)

Never experienced incurring a PCN in a rental vehicle before.

Is there any possible grounds to appeal this PCN.

Do you actually have a PCN addressed to you yet?

Then there's nothing for you to do procedurally until you do.

However, as we don't know how Europcar's notice was sent it would be useful if you would confirm that their records have your current address for service(which is where your PCN would be sent). Also, what's the date of their notice - to give us an idea how long you should play a passive role and when to start asking 'where's my notice'? You could also look at Newham's website for the video and confirm where and the circumstances.

GSV shows conflicting signs with a regulatory(not advisory/warning) part-time 'no right turn' sign for all motor vehicles which then feeds into a part-time but conditional pedestrian zone. This might suggest problems with their traffic order which it might be worthwhile obtaining while you're waiting.

How long was the rental for?

Thanks H C Andersen for your detailed reply.

Europcar’s notice was sent to me via email. I set up an account with them online. They do have my current address.

Europcar’s email was sent to on Monday 17th June 2024.

The Newham PCN that was sent to Europcar, was dated: The 5th June 2024.

Will attempt to view the video via Newham’s website. I was driving up Chestnut Avenue & crossed over Avenue Road, to drive directly up Godwin Road.

How do I obtain the relevant traffic order from Newham (Is this done via a freedom of information request?).

The van rental was only for one day cp8759.

I collected it around 8:45am & returned it back to the rental pickup/dropoff by 5:45pm.
