I parked in a parking bay and tried to pay, RingGo App wasn’t working on my phone although I’ve used the app before at the same location. Therefore, I used pay by phone app with the correct code 7189 (mentioned on the sign post but this was referring to calling, not the app which I realised later). Made a payment to the wrong council, didn’t realise till I saw a ticket displayed on the car. Already disputed with council, they dismissed my appeal.

It is unfortunate that one of the major PbP operators uses the name PayByPhone; I have it on mine, and use it almost every day. You are not the first motorist to be caught out on this, but it's difficult to argue against because the sign just gives a phone number to ring to pay by phone, not instructions to use an app.

Please post up the full PCN, both sides so we can check it for fatal errors.

Thanks for a quick reply, much appreciated. Attached are both sides of the PCN. Could we argue the contravention ‘parked without payment of the parking charge’ when in fact a payment was made, but unfortunately to the wrong council

Hi there,
The payment is due in a few days and I wanted to check in to see if I should go ahead and pay the fine or hold off for now. Thank you again for your help look forward to your guidance.

I've just tried the PbP app whose sequence is(for a non-account holder):

Vehicle details;
Location in the form of a number;
Confirmation as to its location.

In the case of 7189 Hungerford is front and centre. How could you have missed this?

And would £1 have bought you parking from 5.06pm - 6.30pm in Redbridge anyway?

A very silly mistake to have been made, I was baffled why it was only £1 but was in a rush so carried on. Another lady did the same when the RingGo app didn’t work for her too. I think I should go ahead and pay the fine as the payment won’t cover the Redbridge fee for the duration. Thank you for your time

No payment is due for the first hour so the contracention did not occur
I help you pro bono (for free). I now ask that a £40 donation is made to the North London Hospice before I take over your case. I have an 85% success rate across 2,000 PCNs but some PCNs can't be beaten and I will tell you if your case looks hopeless before asking you to donate.

Would you suggest I should/should not make the payment? The ticket is due today.
Thank you

@Assi Mr Mustard explained that no contravention occurred and you paid the PCN anyway. Sorry to say this but you've thrown your money away for nothing (no you cannot get it back).
