Today I had to collect some raffle prizes from a shop on Wood Green High Road for a charity I work for. The High Road gets very congested and so when I spotted a loading bay on Alexandra Road (30 seconds walk from the shop I was visiting) I decided to park and walk over. I put my hazards on (visible in one of the council pics) and parked in front of a van in a loading bay. The sign said loading but I didn’t notice the restricted timings. There ended up being two big boxes to collect from the shop so it was two trips. When I returned to the car with the second box the parking attendant was inputting stuff into his machine. He said I’d been more than five minutes. Not sure how he’d know this as I’m certain I was parked for less than 10 in total and he hadn’t been there when I’d parked. There was nowhere to pull over on the High Road and no other parking spaces on that road that I could see. I was definitely loading and he could see this and I had the charity paperwork to back up my trip. Any point fighting it? Many thanks!

When you parked the bay is designated as a motorcycle parking bay, so that's why you got the code 23 contravention.

But it's misleading to have a loading only legend on the bay markings.

This bay was once loading-only during the day 8am to 6.30pm as shown in GSV 2020 : -

The carriageway text could be considered misleading but the sign is very clear, and it appears you did not look at it properly. However, the new loading-only times of 8am to Noon may not be reflected in the traffic order so this needs examination. If they are, then you have a quite weak case based on carriageway marking not reflecting the sign.

Thanks. I’ve checked the traffic order and it hasn’t been updated to reflect the change to motorcycles :) Any wording around this in the appeal would be gratefully received

I suggest you post the order or an extract(s) which scope the restriction and the order's references to 'traffic signs'(a term you should find in the Interpretation section and individually referred to in a section headed Traffic Signs.
