Help/advice on PCN for 31j - Barnet Council, London

Hi all.

First off, a massive thanks for this resource. Very grateful. I need advice on a traffic violation from Barnet Council for entering and stopping in a yellow box junction when prohibited.

Here is the PCN: https://imgpile.com/p/erM56WA

Briefly, I enterted the box with traffic flowing freely and no expectation that there wouldn't be sufficient space for my vehicle to clear it on the other side. From a human perspective, the space available on the other side as traffic began to slow looked sufficient to warrant my decision to enter the box, and the video shows my grey Skoda with roof rack slowing monentarily before entering the box so that I could judge said space. In other words, that shows my awareness of the rule and my attempt to respect it.

Only when I deemed it ok to proceed did I decide to do so. The car in front of me stopped sooner than I expected but, even with that detail, only my back wheels were stationary in the yellow box, and for just over five seconds. At no time did I block the intersection or impair the functionality of the crossing. Moreover, the video footage (council's evidence) does not show what is happening in front of me, which may or may not be of significance.

It just seems insane to me that I could be fined for what seems to this human like perfectly reasonable driving. But, of course, you are the experts - not me. Please take a look at the 20-second video clip and give me your considered advice.

Thanks again. I'm hugely grateful to you all.

This perfectly illustrates the money grubbing nature of modern day moving traffic enforcement.

By any measure this is a trivial contravention and there was room to move your car forward which is a basis of many a winning Appeal I have made at the tribunal.

I am rather busy with work but this one won't take long so if you would like me to handle the whole thing for you please email mrmustard@zoho.com
I am currently too busy working to take on any except the most unreasonable PCNs.

I help you pro bono (for free). I now ask that a £40 donation is made to the North London Hospice before I take over your case. I have an 85% success rate across 2,000 PCNs but some PCNs can't be beaten and I will tell you if your case looks hopeless before asking you to donate.
