Author Topic: Hackney Council PCN: I got a ticket despite paying for parking with the PayByPhone app!  (Read 534 times)

20 days ago, right after parking my Honda, I paid for two hours worth parking using the PayByPhone app, using the correct parking location code.
I have proof of this payment in my phone, as well as picture of the street location code.

To my surprise, I came back to my car with a ticket on my windshield, despite being well in time. The officer had issued the fine exactly in the middle of my parking session!

This is scandalous I would like to know the appropriate way to dispute this charge. The fine has already gone up to £80.

Contravention summary

Contravention - 11 - Parked without payment of the parking charge
Location - Baches Street
First seen at: Wed, 3 Jul 2024 11:57
Issued at: Wed, 3 Jul 2024 12:03
Served by: Affixed to Vehicle

Paid Parking Summary (from the PayByPhone app)
Started - 11:02 am
Expired - 01:02pm

I can confirm from the PayByPhone record that I had used the correct parking location code.

Should I dispute the fine with the council directly or wait for guidance on this forum as a first step?

Hi,
This is really common.
The appeal process is simple, the appeal process at Enfield Council is configured for people such as yourself to upload proof of payment, timestamped. Quite painless process.

Cheers

Are you the registered keeper;
Are your DVLA keeper details current?

You've missed the 14-day discount period, so the full penalty is in play for the moment. You may make reps until a NTO is served on the keeper which may be as soon as 31 July.

But hang fire making reps now until you've responded to the above pl.

Yes to both

My DVLA details are up to date

Hackney uses Ringgo not PayByPhone - have a look at where you actually paid to park - my bet is somewhere in Lambeth.

You've posted a page from 2012. Hackney changed to RingGo about 8 years ago.

Here is the Hackney web page for visitor parking: -

jazz, can you please tell us why you used PayByPhone and not RingGo when you parked your bike ?
