Hi all,

I parked on single yellow line with no signs nearby restricting me from parking. I saw the officer as he has finished giving me the ticket and challenged on the reasons, he said the other drivers had a blue badge and I could not park there. I asked for the specific sign showing that I am in the wrong and he just mentioned the zone that I entered in Kingston? Please advise if I have a chance to stand up my grounds.

Thank you.

You have to suspect you are in a controlled parking zone if a single yellow has no sign.

What was your route top where you parked?

Your link leads to a site which requires signing in, which some of those here are loathe to do.

Please advise what else I should use to access the PCN?

“What was your route top where you parked?”

I am not sure I understand this question, please rephrase.

Sorry - route to where you parked. I can't find a decent CPZ map. You will have passed zone entry sign(s).

I travelled from Lensbury park Teddington to Bittoms car park and parked opposite. I have parked there before and also seen many cars parked there on a few occasions. I would expect on that side of the road to have a sign if the parking is not permitted.

Controlled parking zones need only zone entry signs.

If you give me the exact route - the roads you used-  I can check if the signage is reasonable.

As you are leaving the bridge, and before passing under the 'tunnel', there are these signs: -
https://maps.app.goo.gl/X8zNRyQFDHHrkQH99.

Miles away from where you parked, of course. This is very naughty of KuT council, because a CPZ is not recommended for more than a few streets, but they get away with it, I'm afraid. They should at least put up some repeater signs like Coventry have done for instance. (Centre of Coventry is one vast zone within the ring road). Basically, in the London area, if something looks too good to be true, then it is too good to be true.

Here is their website page where you can type in a street and it'll give you the zone you are in: -
https://www.kingston.gov.uk/parking/parking-zones?search_api_fulltext=the+bittoms

You were parked in Zone A and A1, Kingston Town Centre. Does the response also tell you the restricted times ? Of course not, that would make it too easy wouldn't it !

If it were me I'd submit reps on the basis of totally inadequate signage, and point out the vast size of the CPZ which is totally against all guidance. The distance from the signs on the bridge to The Bittoms where you parked is nearly 1.35 miles ! Of course they'll reject them, but at least they'll have to do at least some work for their money. I don't think this is worth a trip to London Tribunals unless somebody on here can come up with a 'technical' appeal, based on their mismanagement of the enforcement process. These can win on their own, and have done quite a few times.

Thank you. I am definitely up for the appeal. How do we define who has won similar cases? I emailed Phillip Morgan yesterday to get his attention in case he can advise the best course of action.

I will retrace the route and take a look today as I have a full tank.  8)
@Incandescent!

I AM ABLE TO TAKE ON MORE CASES AS A REPRESENTATIVE AT THE LONDON TRIBUNALS. I HATE RETIREMENT.

There are "known knowns" which we may never have wished to know. This applies to them. But in the field the idea that there are also "unknown unknowns" doesn't apply as they hide in the aleatoric lottery. I know this is true and need to be prepared knowing the "unknown unknowns" may well apply.

Hi Phillip,

Please could you advise when would you be able to assist with this as I would hate to miss the deadline for the appeal:(

I think Phillip is a bit overwhelmed at the moment. I too find posting advice now taking me into the small hours, (don't worry too much as I am retired), but there are few regulars on here now and lots of PCNs to look at.
So if Phillip doesn't come on here soon, don't miss the appeal deadline, and if necessary, submit reps based on what I posted, namely the vast extent of the CPZ, totally against all guidance, with no repeater signs are are recommended for CPZ that are larger than normal.

Thank you. I do not feel confident enough to write it down myself as not very technically knowledgeable.
If Phillip is overwhelmed I hope someone else on the thread would be willing to help out with a draft?
