Last week I unwittingly parked in a suspended parking bay in Hammersmith London and returned to a ticket.
It’s a bay that’s both for residents and pay and display/visitors.
There was a big van in front of me which covered the sign and being a resident permit holder who often uses that bay, I didn’t go out of my way to look for any signage.
There was also a car behind my car which was still there on my return but that didn’t have a ticket on it.
Any advice on the best way appealing this?
Any guidance would be much appreciated.

The photos of the signage look pretty clear:

It's a short bay and the suspension sign was attached to the regulatory timeplate for the bay you parked in, which is here.

Not looking at the signs can be fatal, there is a duty to check the signs on every occasion and being a frequent user of the bay is immaterial, so we'd have to look for a technical challenge.

I will request the traffic management order, but in the meantime please tell us if there's any meaningful mitigation, whether you are a blue badge holder, how long you were parked for and for what purpose.

Here is The Hammersmith and Fulham (Parking Places, Zone A) (Consolidation) Order 2020, the relevant entry seems to be number 85053 on page 38.

The bay extends too far East, but as you were parked in the middle of the bay that doesn't really help.
