Yes the new occupants of your address might get a letter from an enforcement agent, but all they need to do is confirm that you moved out on X date and that'll be the end of that.

With respect, if only life was this simple!

The bailiff would want proof that the OP no longer lived there and had none of their property there. Without warning the new occupiers would be flummoxed, to say the least.

The bailiff has no interest in wasting time, if the new occupiers can show that they moved in on X date and they have conveyancing papers, a lease or rent agreement, council tax or similar, the bailiff will return the case to the office to trace the debtor.

If the new occupiers appear flummoxed that will bolster their claim that the debtor is no longer there.

Thank you very much to all!

I've decided to pay the charge, as my family will still be living in this house even after I go abroad - so would want to avoid any problems for them. Otherwise I would have taken this to the tribunals.

Thank you all for the help and support - hopefully this thread can help someone in the future :)

@kryba007 well that was a lot of wasted effort, we could have taken this to the tribunal for you!

If you want to fight a PCN the fact that you're moving abroad is largely irrelevant, as long as you have internet access.
