« on: November 30, 2024, 08:57:11 am »
Parked on Peter Street in Soho, London last night on a single yellow at 00:30. Do I have any grounds to appeal this?

Thanks

Code 27
Parked in a special enforcement area adjacent to a footway. cycle track or verge lowered to meet tje level of the carriage way

So here ?
https://maps.app.goo.gl/a1F4H1JnviGyFkxYA

Dropped kerb on both sides so on the face of it, you look to be totally bang-to-rights, but having the single yellow line by the dropped kerb means there is the possibility of confusion if you parked outside the restriction hours for the yellow line. There also may be an appeal based on the council management of the PCN enforcement process.

So please post-up the PCN, all sides, with nothing redacted. Also don't be in a huge rush to pay as others may yet comment.

Yeah, but what about pedestrians, people in wheel chairs or with prams and buggys ? Frankly I think you'll struggle with this but you could try this as an informal challenge : -

Dear Sirs

Re PCN <number> dated <dd/mm/yy> served at Peter Street, Soho

I refute responsibility for the PCN above, on the grounds that I parked outside the restriction hours for the yellow line. A motorist is surely able to rely on the carriageway markings when deciding whether to park or not. Whilst I am aware of the parking restriction of dropped footways, it seemed to me that this would not apply outside the yellow line restrictions. I therefore request that the PCN be cancelled.

Yours faithfully

It's a petty PCN given it's a dead end back street and one side is a narrow pavement.

Also in a controlled zone they must have yellow lines or bays on all kerbs but they have a choice to put double yellows by dropped footways.
