Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone can help me in this situation.

Got the PCN through the post yesterday 24/09/2026, of course i did not realise there was a bus lane there as i am not familiar to the area. I can see from the CCTV image they provided the markings seem faint but say 'Bus Gate'?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, eg if their PCN is correct and following legislation.

PCN can be viewed here:

Thanks in advance.

I am sorry but I have done an out of London PCN like this for a couple of years and some experts have now left the forum. I suggest you search for other similar threads and take a good look at the second legislation at the header of the PCN to check for errors re wording. What does the video show?

There are "known knowns" which we may never have wished to know. This applies to them. But in the field the idea that there are also "unknown unknowns" doesn't apply as they hide in the aleatoric lottery. I know this is true and need to be prepared knowing the "unknown unknowns" may well apply.

I prefer Google Street View.  Here is the location in GSV.

The signs seem clear enough, and there are numerous advance warning signs as one approaches on the main road.  So please tell us what your approach was that caused you to pass the signs.'

I don't know how, but i did not see the signs, there was a car in front of me if i remember correctly and thye went the same way and i presumed if they are going i should be ok. Is there nothing in the actual PCN that is incorrect from their end? Previously i have won a few of these with help from members on here on technicalities on the PCN.

Thanks

Most bus lane PCNs we see are for London using the London Local Authorities Act 1996. This has known defects that have enabled many wins at adjudication at London Tribunals. However your PCN is served under the Traffic Management Act 2004,  and so far, we have not seen any defects in the PCN. In addition, we cannot search the statutory register for the Traffic Penalty Tribunal online to see what previous decisions are, so it's difficult, sorry to have to say it. I think you will probably need to take this one on the chin, and grin and bare it.
