Hi,

First time poster, came across this site through Money Saving Expert and hoping some one can help me. I received today 5 PCN's all issued on the 6th November for contraventions which all occurred in the space of 13 minutes for driving in a residential area where there is a school. Apparently, and unbeknownst to me at the time there are driving restrictions in the area during certain times of day. I had been in the area to get to an old friends house as I was passing by the area, and am unfamiliar with the location; and was completely unaware of the restrictions.

I have received notices for the following times:
15: 05 - Alibon Road
15:10 - Alibon Road
15:12 - Alibon Road
15:15 - Rockwell Road
15:18 - Alibon Road

The Google Street Map is here https://maps.app.goo.gl/7w9b8eW2zNpSoRFB7 - I can't seem to see driving restrictions on here and understand these are relatively new.

Do I really have to pay all of these - I would be content to hold my hands up, show contrition and pay for one if worst came to worst but paying for all 5 is going to leave me severely out of pocket over Christmas which I cannot afford. Any help greatly appreciated, thanks and good karma in advance.

If all five PCNs were received together in the mail, then you have a good case for requesting cancellation of four of them and offer to pay the first one. This is because you only became aware of committing these offences in the local streets near your old friends house, when the PCNs arrived. Essentially it is an argument that the penalty is disproportionate.

So I suggest you submit representations for all the PCNs together, apologising for the driving error based on being totally new to the area, living some distance away at <where you live>,  and state plainly that you consider paying for all 5 PCNs is a disproportionate penalty, and that you admit error and are willing to pay for the first PCN.
