Parked with one or more wheels on or over a footpath
« on: »
I received a penalty charge notice from Hillingdon Council for parking with 2 wheels on the pavement.
There was no signage to indicate you cannot park this way.

The notice reads, "The Civil Enforcement Officer observed the vehicle identified above from 12:12 to 12:13 on thr 30/11/2024 and believes a Penalty Charge is payable in respect of that vehicle on the grounds that the contravention set out above was being committed".

In my county, you do not receive penalties for this, hence I was surprised there was no signage indicating it is an offence.

Parking off-carriageway has been an offence in London (which includes Hillingdon), since the 70s, and requires no signs or lines.  As a motorist you are supposed to know this, and saying that you didn't know is not a reason for cancellation of the PCN, unfortunately. Yes, I know, there is an awful lot to know !!
