Newham - Abercrombie road - parking ticket
« on: »
Hi, I got a pcn when I parked in this spot with no sign on it. The parking bay in question with no sign can hold 2 cars, the other bays next to it had signs but not the one where I parked in. I have attached the pcn and the photos of the proof. I have also attached a photo of the parking spot without my car in it from a further view so you can see the whole parking bays and signs. Please advise on how I can get this pcn cancelled.

The CEO has tried hard to fit you up but the first pic which is yours shows double yellows between bays. This used to be a private development and Newham is often slapdash with signage but you can see a pole where a sign should be.

Indeed it used to be private, because GSV March 2021, (the latest view), shows the private parking signs : -

Clearly now subject to council enforcement, but they seem to have been totally dozy when signing it. The double-yellow lines between your bay and the next are your Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free card, as the bay is now separated from the next one, so needs a sign, and as SFM says, there is a pole there for a sign, but no sign on it.

However, such is the venality and rapacity of councils nowadays, they will refuse any informal challenge, and probably reps to a Notice to Owner as well. So you must be prepared to stand your ground, and take them to London Tribunals.

I see that when it was private, the small kerb square with a tree that is separating the two bays had no yellow lines; Newham have added them.
