I received a PCN after entering a Pedestrianised Zone on Great Strand North (off Lower Strand NW9).

(I’ve since learned the Health Centre car park can also be accessed from another road.)
I'm not familiar with the area, and unfortunately, I turned into the road about 3 minutes before the restriction ended. The Pedestrianised Zone is about 62 meters after the turning (on Google maps). The road curves slightly to the right at the start, which slightly delayed me initially seeing the sign. I read the sign a moment before passing it. There was a car right behind me too, so I didn’t feel safe doing an emergency stop - to check and process the sign.
The restriction sign is only on the left-hand side of the road – there is no sign on the right. If there had been a sign on both sides, it would have been obvious to me that I was entering the zone, and I definitely would have spotted it sooner and avoided the mistake.
After receiving the PCN, I checked on Google maps and noticed one small signs warning of the Pedestrianised Zone before the turning.
How can I appeal this please, if I can?
