Lea Bridge Road No U Turn Restricted Zone (cctv)
« on: »
Hi,

I’ve received a PCN from Waltham Forest for an alleged prohibited U-turn, and I’m trying to figure out the best way to approach it.

The notice includes video evidence on their appeal site. What’s confusing is that this is a road with multiple recorded usage on previous occasions without any issues, so this has come as a bit of a surprise. I’m not sure if the restriction is something that’s been introduced recently or if it’s been there for a while but just isn’t very noticeable.

I’ve since gone back to the location and can see that there is a sign in place, although it wasn’t something I noticed at the time.

I haven’t submitted an appeal yet, as I wanted to get some advice first before taking any steps.

Would appreciate any guidance on whether this is worth challenging, if there are any valid grounds to appeal, or if there’s anything else I should consider before responding.

I have access to all the evidence on the council’s site, including the video, and can share it if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

Video of the sign and your U-turn after passing it is very clear. Could you post a GSV link to the location, please.

GSV October 2024 shows the pole for the sign present, but not the "No U-Turn" sign. GSV August 2025 shows the sign h as been installed, so this restriction is relatively new, but I can't see this helping you in any way. However, wait a bit to see what else might be suggested, but don't miss any PN deadlines.

Unless there's a repeater sign or further continuation of the restriction, is there a sign 440yds further up the road designating the point at which the no u-turn restriction ends?  Is one required? Otherwise, how do you know when the restriction ends without measuring it yourself?

Reason for mentioning this is that Redbridge have recently introduced a no u-turn restriction in both directions on Cranbrook Rd (between Balfour Rd and Wellesley Rd) and unlike them to be helpful, have actually installed a sign at both ends to show where the restriction finishes.
