Hi,

I had a visitor come and park in front of my residence. I activated one of my visitor vouchers, but it seems like I entered the registration was entered in the wrong field. In the confirmation email you can see that it was addressed to the correct registration, however in the registration is the wrong address.

I tried to contact Lambeth but this was after 5pm so they were closed. I also tried to e-mail them.

The visitor got a PCN.

What is the best course of action, is there a draft informal appeal letter? What chances would I have on appeal?

Thank you

Totally different reg to the PCN

Totally different reg to the PCN

I entered the reg into the wrong field and it copied one of the previous visitors regs. You can see that in the e-mail. I did not clock this. It is an honest mistake.

Do I stand a chance?

Thanks

Of course you stand a chance as Lambeth must consider discretion and they probably have a one chance policy for an honest mistake with an e-permit.

Draft something and we'll tweak it.

Include anything on being a longstanding resident, previous permits ok etc.

Dear Madam/Sir,

On May 16, 2025 at approximately 1615 I had a visitor with registration RJ66DVY park infront of my property at 68 Bavent Road. Immediately upon arrival I logged into my Lambeth parking portal and applied oone of my visitor vouchers and paid for my visitors parking.

However, as it later transpired I mistyped the registration, entering it into the wrong field and the portal automatically selected previous visitor registrations AV07ZBU. My visitor was subsequently issued a PCN.

I have been a longtime resident of Bavent Road, this is the first time this has happened thus I kindly ask for you to cancel the PCN as evidenced I tried to pay and this is honest human error.

Submitted is the proof of payment as well as screenshot of active session that shows both registrations.

I appreciate your support and understanding.

Thank you

Any feedback or amends for the informal appeal? Thank you

Did you mistype the VRM or was it the right one in the wrong field?

Right one in the wrong field.

I've tweaked it a bit.

However, as it later transpired I entered the correct VRM into the wrong field and the portal automatically selected a previous visitor registration, AV07ZBU. My visitor was subsequently issued with the PCN.

As you can see from the attached screenshot, the correct VRM of RJ66DVY is in the name field - I'm not sure how I made this mistake but online systems can sometimes be confusing.

This is perfect, thank you. I submitted an informal appeal will keep you posted.

Hi,

Lambeth rejected my informal appeal (attached) what chances do I have with a formal appeal? Obviously its double jeopardy (£80 to £160) if I lose.

Thank you

They haven't really considered your challenge and the mix-up with using their own online system.

I would be minded to try again citing government fairness guidance but the stakes are high now but they may well repeat the discount offer.

See what others say.

Thanks - anyone else. Do I have ground to win in a formal appeal / Tribunal or should I just cough up 80 GBP for an honest mistake.

I don't think you have a slam-dunk win appeal for London Tribunals, but if you're prepared to stand your ground on their bad attitude, then wait for the Notice to Owner. As SFM says, they have failed to consider your challenge, which is a procedural impropriety on its own. However you have accept that you are risking the full penalty.

Is there any precedent? I am sure I am not the first who has mistyped or selected the wrong field.

What are my cancels - I am trying to weight the time effort versus the cost. I can pull out good design guideliness for web systems but all requires time and research.

Thanks
