Ilford Lane Redbridge Box Junction PCN
« on: January 11, 2025, 05:14:00 pm »
Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I received a PCN for entering a box junction in Ilford Lane, Redbridge. I genuinely think that because my access was clear, I was OK to attempt to get. Once I'd gotten into the box junction, did the car in front of me break, and leaving the back of my car remaining in the box for about 7-8 seconds.

I've attached the letter, and have attached a screen recording of the recording Redbridge council have provided (I'm the white Ford Focus in the middle lane).

Any help would be much appreciated here.

You were indicating right presumably to get out the box but couldn't as traffic was in the outside lane. So that's a possible point.

You followed the black car into the box with no hesitation or slowing that I can see, which is not a good thing to do in London. Apart from SFM's point I cannot see anything that would win at London Tribunals. The council will reject anything you say, BTW. They keep the penalty money so are hardly unbiased.

Do you think there's no point in appealing this then?

You can certainly try a challenge to Redbridge but the issue is they will reject and then you'll have to decide whether to pay (assuming the discount is reoffered, which it probably will) or try the tribunal.

The advantage of making a challenge is they sometimes mess up the reply/process.

It's Ilford Hill not Ilford Lane and quite a short named road so I don't think vague location is goer.
