If you'd kept on the carriageway on the double yellow lines you'd have been OK as there is an exemption for boarding and alighting passengers. Also your BB is valid too, but it's not valid off the carriageway.
I can't see any statutory grounds for an appeal at London Tribunals. You can of course, submit informal reps where you can explain why you parked where you did and ask for discretion.
