I'm a newbie here and I appreciate all the help extended here by good souls.
I was issued with a PCN by Harrow Council for driving through the Bus Gate at CAMROSE AVENUE under what I would say was "atrocious" weather conditions that limited the visibility. It was obviously my first time in this area and I noticed the Bus Gate restriction just when I was about to enter it (as I noticed the blue roundel signs at the last minute). At that moment I stopped my car (evident in the CCTV footage) and looked at the mirrors, but it was too late for me to reverse out due to traffic following me (again evident in the CCTV footage), hence decided to carry on through the Bus Gate.
I consider myself a good driver and when I received the PCN, I looked up online and could see multiple posts in this forum as well as a BBC article calling this place out for notoriously high number of PCNs issued. I cannot agree more with everyone here that this arrangement clearly is put in place by the council to make "easy" money as it definitely catches one off guard due to the signs not being clear enough.
I appealed this PCN making a case for a valid mitigating circumstance but as one would expect with traffic arrangements like these, I have been issued with a NOTICE OF REJECTION. Although there is a risk of me ending up paying the PCN in full (£160) (with a reduced rate of £80 available until 14 days from 27-Jan-2026 when my notice of rejection was issued), I want to consider the option of appealing this to the London Tribunals as I believe I have a valid case for this PCN to be overturned.
Could one of the good souls here please guide me if I should go ahead with an appeal or should I pay the reduced charge of £80 and get done with it.
