Hammersmith and Fulham Council, Code 31j – entering and stopping in a box, 170 Shepherds bush road
Received PCN on 05.01.26 as I (black Mini) stopped in a yellow box on 13/12/25.
2. Outline of case:
I was driving at night. After the lights there was a yellow box exit with 2 lanes which allow for 4 cars to comfortably fit in. When I had passed the lights I was trying to work out if I stay in the right lane or move into the empty left lane. However in the video you can see the large black BMW SUV car in front was edging to go into the left lane, but then abruptly stops in the middle of both lanes. This blocked me from going into the left lane and then forced me to stop in the yellow box while trying to edge more to the right side. I assume the BMW SUV driver was distracted by the 6-7 police cars with flashing lights (it was very distracting), but regardless I feel this is a blocked/stolen spot situation.
Also at the 15 second mark when the car from the other junction goes behind me, he is in a lane that is a right turn, can be seen from google view. Therefore I don’t believe I am ‘blocking’ anyone as the black Addison lee taxi was blocked from going into the left lane by the large BMW SUV.
Overall I don’t believe I was intentionally blocking anyone as the large car in black caused the problem, given there was technically 2 spaces free on the left lane that I couldn’t get in due to the situation.
