Hi,

Took a left turn off the Great West road down road that I had previously used. Council has recently put in a camera on this road.
I used to be a resident of one of the nearby streets until September 2024, and I was visiting other residents who live nearby (2 streets away).
Neither I nor them were informed about it and the signage has only recently gone up just as you take the turning.
It's a busy 3 lane A-road with 40Mph limit, and I hadn't seen sign.

Hoping to challenge this fine hopefully before the 30/1.

Thanks in advance for help, here are pictures,  article from council from when they implemented. https://imgur.com/a/B6RqxUE

This council may cancel for a first time contravention.

Were you going anywhere local?

Yes, going to Kings Street (2 streets down,400m away from end of this road where contravention took place)

And purpose of trip?

Visit friends at their residence on Kings Street

I think this is the 3rd thread we've had on on this street.

The key issue for me is the total failure to provide advance signage of the new restriction on the 40mph Great West Road. This is a dual-carriagway with heavy traffic and it is really essential from a safety point of view that motorist are informed of the No Access restriction (except permit holders who already know and are allowed to pass).

Here is the approach: -

If the council want to persist with this restriction, it would be a whole lot safer to move the restriction back, plus with a warning on the main road. So place the restriction past the gated access on the left so people can at least turn round in safety: -

GSV is not sufficiently up-to-date to show the actual signage, I'm afraid.  Until a case gets to London Tribunals, the council will just carry on in the same old way and get the money in. A "nice little earner" as Arthue Daley would say.

I completely agree with KSKumar and Incandescent. This is dangerous, unfair and a money-making exercise. It is only right that the council should inform satnav providers (which is why I went down this road instead of going down Chiswick Lane as normal). I did not see any signs. I don't think anyone will see the signs until they get a penalty notice. The council will make a huge amount of money from this, which is presumably part of the aim. I will appeal. I hope KSKumar's appeal is successful. It would be great to hear the outcome.

@Incandescent @ stamfordman In terms of making a representation, should I continue to wait for other comments/posts or do you think I should go with what I have?

I would ask for discretion as a first time at this newish restriction saying you were visiting friends at xxxx and not using the route as a cut-through.

I would also add the issues about the signage being clear (eg lack of advance signs if true) on the A40.

Post yr draft here for comment but do not miss any deadlines.

To whom it may concern,
On the 10/1, at 19.01, I went down Rivercourt Road to visit my friends, at my previous residence, at (insert address). I lived at this address myself until the 24th September and regularly drove down Rivercourt Road as a resident. I also had a parking permit registered with the borough.
Neither myself nor my friends who live at said address were informed of the changes that were taking place down Rivercourt road thus they could not be expected to update, inform, or register in advance my vehicle on Ringo as I’ve seen, in retrospect, is the policy is for local residents.
I was not using this as a cut through to other places, as you know, (insert address) is a very nearby address to this road.
Furthermore,  there was no  advance signage of the new restriction on the 40mph Great West Road. This is a dual-carriageway with heavy traffic and it is really essential from a safety point of view that motorist are informed of the No Access restriction (except permit holders who already know and are allowed to pass).
My unawareness to the changes that had been made since my previous residency in the area, and the lack of advance signage meant that I had already taken the turning by the time I had any opportunity to potentially see the sign.

I am happy to provide details of my previous residency in the area and the names of the individuals I was visiting.

I would ask for discretion on this occasion for the infringement that occurred.

Dear KSKumar,

I just received an email from Hammersmith and Fulham saying that after careful consideration they had decided to cancel my PCN. They explained that the traffic restriction scheme on Rivercourt Rd would carry on.

I do hope H&F cancel your PCN too.

I don't think people object to the traffic restriction per se, just its awful and bovinely stupid implementation.  But of course the more stupid they are, the more money they make !
