Hi everyone,

I think I might finally have a ticket that is an easy win, but I need to sanity check.

I was driving on Union Street in Southwark and I was driving from Southwark Bridge Road towards Borough High Street, so I was going in the right direction. However, I stopped and I did a parallel park which included reversing into a parking spot. I got a ticket that I drove into NO ENTRY.

I just reversed, so the camera just activated, since theoretically I was moving in the wrong direction.

Here is the link: https://pcnevidence.southwarkparking.co.uk/pcnonline/liberatorImageProxyRaw.php?noderef=workspace%3A%2F%2FSpacesStore%2F929498bb-c18f-414e-9573-9debd1155e29&mimetype=video%2Fmp4

My car is only in the video. The actual pictures of a completely different car just driving in front of me.

There should not be a ticket, right? I mean it's very obvious to me that there shouldn't.

Are tickets not verified by a human before posting?

Post the front page of the PCN blanking only your name and address.

Thanks for your response.

Please find the PCN page attached.
It's not even my car in the pic.

That is what I thought.
Thank you so much for sanity checking.

Sorry, another silly question. Do I need to spend on a very formal and legally correct response or I just highlight the fact they hadn't checked it and they should cancel it?

Think all you need to say is below but wait for others.

-------

Dear Southwark,

The contravention did not occur. I did not reverse park past a no entry sign. There is not a no entry sign by that parking place. Please check your video.

I look forward to your early confirmation of cancellation.

That is a good point to mention the lack sign.
Thank you so much!

Don't be upset if they reject your reps.London councils reject almost all reps because they know that >95% of people then just cough up. Paying the discount makes it all go away, but enriches the councils.  We call it joining the Mugged Club.

Please hold fire:  the PCN is invalid as it incorrectly states when they may serve a charge certificate.  End of. Case pending at the Tribunal.

How do we get more people to fight their PCNs?

If you do not even make a challenge, you will surely join "The Mugged Club".

Well that's good but there is no contravention. No need to use that unless they act stupid.

I meant to say use both. They have already conducted themselves as you state in the live case by saying all is OK with their document.  More for the ultimate story which will ensue, The Daily Telegraph, as per the bus lane saga some months ago. Further, this will increase the possibility of a costs application.

PM sent to OP re using both before this interchange.

Hi All,

Sorry, I just noticed the last comments.

So, they did reject it. I got upset but yes, I took your advice and stepped back. I was actually expecting this to happen. But their reasoning is stupid.

This stresses me out and causes a lot of inconvenience. Do they eventually get penalised for this?

Do I just produce same reasoning to the court, because the judge will be of more sound mind or do I actually need a solicitor now?

Also, that car in the photographs isn't mine. Mine is only in the video. Clearly no roof rack. I mean how blind do you have to be?

They've gone bonkers. Neither of the cars in the video did anything wrong as you were both going in the right direction along a one-way street. All you did was park.

You need to register an appeal with the tribunal. I'll be surprised if Southwark contests this when they look at it properly.

This is such a hassle. They should be mandated to pay out compensations. I'm not being greedy, but maybe that'd stop them.

Also, is it better to attend in person or it doesn't really matter?
I will try to catch every gotcha and document it.

Any tricks? Dos? Don'ts?

Register the appeal and ask for either a telephone or personal hearing. You don't have to upload anything yet but if it is contested I'd do a sketch for the adjudicator showing the layout there - the no entry road legend is for traffic coming out of the side roads just ahead and in any case there is not a no entry sign as of the Google Maps view and even if there was you wouldn't have gone back past it when parking.

Bonkers.
