Hi, I have managed to get two PCNs in the space of a couple of weeks :(

I did not know about these new school zones and the signs look just like the normal signs that tell you that you're entering a zone that you can't park in between certain hours. Around this time I was dealing with an incredibly sick elderly mother and a very sick beloved family pet who died on the 3rd May. Mother has thankfully survived a week in the acute medical unit, but I wish I hadn't managed to get these tickets on top of it all. The vet bill was astronomical. So much stress.

PCN 1 30/4/26 @ 15:08:53  Date of Notice 06/05/26

PCN 2, 05/05/26 @ 15:08:25  Date of Notice 18/05/26

I have only pasted the first pages, I can add more tomorrow if you like, but it's interesting that on Page 2 it says 'You can view a recording or still images of this alleged contravention online by visiting www.viewmypcn.co.uk/ealing. But you can't as that address doesn't exist.

It's strange that they are both at 15:08.  I have no idea why there are both for the exact same minute. I have no 'regular' route or even anywhere to be at such a specific time, it seems a very strange fluke. I have however asked for the video footage of PCN 1 last week.

PCN 2 only arrived today and I will have to ask to see the video tomorrow. I'm going to upload this first and my computer is playing up so I need to shut down and reboot and it's getting very late so will post this and update/amend tomorrow.

For PCN 1, 30/04/26 I believe I approached from Cranmer Avenue, turning right into Northcroft Road.

This is a photograph of what was directly in front of me

This is the view as I turned right

This is the view as I headed straight on

This is the road to the left of my head on with a sign saying no trucks

This is the view to the right of head on

This is the view head on a bit

I honestly think they should paint the floor a different colour or not have signs the same size as the controlled zones. They're even less colourful than the controlled zones, they look so innocuous as compared to the controlled zone signs.

I know I probably don't have much hope of getting them dismissed but I thought I must try. If you have any advice I'd be so grateful. I try so hard not to get caught but my goodness it's so hard sometimes. I can't believe I got two. I hope there's no more! I'm pretty sure that after the 8th May I was fully aware of the problem. It's odd that the 2nd PCN is 13 days after the offence date. Is that something to challenge?

Best wishes and thanks for any help you can offer.

They have 28 days from contravention date to serve a PCN by post.

Q: Did you approach those "flying motorbike" signs head on, or did you make a right turn that is just by them.

From your narrative, it seems you didn't know what the signs meant, which is not an excuse or reason for cancellation of the PCN. Have a read here: -

Thank you I will have a look. I rarely drive, not even every week, I'm not a well person but as I had to deal with a very sick elderly mother I had to do a lot of chores for her, take her to hospital appointments etc etc, I was driving much more than usual. I know what they are now and will pull over and assess the situation in future. I appreciate there's little hope of a challenge but I do find it strange they are both at 15:08 and frankly can't believe the coincidence that they are that both at almost exactly the same time on different dates. There's no accounting for it.

Does asking for video evidence mean I have put in an official representation and the higher rate is stopped? Please could you let me know as I think I would have to get something in today if so. Sorry to be dense

London councils put their evidence on-line which you can view quoting PCN Number and car registration; you don't have to request it.

I've looked and the video shows you shooting past the "Flying Motorbike" sign without hesitation. You approached the sign head-on, so it would have been clearly visible to you.

So I'm not sure what you can put in your reps because their evidence is plain enough. You need to be aware that these signs are all over London so you need to look out for them.

I only came on here in case there may have been an error with the ticket as is sometimes the case. Also I think there should be paint on the floor to denote these areas more clearly and they are new, having been only introduced this year and there may have been test cases out there. The DVLA should write to you when there's updates, without having to sign up, but I signed up a few months ago and have not had one since signing up. I was also weirded out by the 3:08 thing. If I was 'zipping past' and was above the 20mph limit I'm sure they would have added that to my charge. I don't consider 20mph zipping. I don't drive much and I had been preoccupied with my elderly sick mother and grieving the death of a pet. I'm sorry you have compassion fatigue, don't worry I've learned my lesson without needing to be kicked while I'm down. They are big fines for someone who just spent a fortune on treatment for a deceased pet. Oh and no the videos are not available until you request them, the only reason you could see the first one was because I requested it last week. And I'm still awaiting the second video to be uploaded, so no, you can't just view them without a request - for Ealing anyway.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply youi were speeding at all, just going along past the sign as if it wasn't there. We see this in so many videos, that one wonders if people know what the sign means

Of course the penalties in London are outrageous, being double the rest of the UK. The UK government could act on this but have never done so. Well over £650 million is paid in penalties ever year to London councils, it is huge money-spinner.
