Hi all,

I have just received a TfL PCN (50r - prohibited right turn) for turning right from Lewisham Road into northbound Blackheath Hill.

Typically, motorists are normally permitted to turn right here. However, on the date in question, all traffic lights at this crossroad were not functioning. I do not recall seeing any "No right turn" signage on approach, however, I cannot be 100% sure as my dashcam footage does not go as far back as the contravention date.

I should also note that the still images provided by TfL do not show any no right turn signage as their fixed camera is facing Blackheath Hill. No video evidence has been supplied.

I have attached images of my PCN and the still images obtained through the TfL website.

I would be grateful for views on whether I have any solid grounds for appeal, and if so, how best to frame these representations.

Many thanks in advance

Their camera doesn't, as you say, show you passing any No Right Turn sign, and as this is a signal-controlled junction, such a sign will, (or should be), on the actual signalhead. Latest GSV is October 2024, with the single signalhead covered-up. We need to see what that signal head now has on it. I suspect it has a NRT sign below the green phase.

HOwever, if you want to get things rolling, submit reps stating that their photos do not show you passing a No Right Turn sign, therefore the PCN is void and must be cancelled. Of course they will reject this, but may reveal something in their reply we can use against them.
