Author Topic: Devon Council, code 01 Parking in a restricted st during prescribed hrs - PCN WRONG NUMBER PLATE, Roseville St Dartmouth  (Read 355 times)

Today in Dartmouth, whilst parked on Roseville Street we received a PCN with completely the wrong number plate listed. The vehicle make and colour are correct on the PCN; however, not one single character / digit of the vehicle registration is correct!

The registration of the vehicle on the PCN relates to a white Ford Connect Transit van, my vehicle is a black Audi A3.

The exact location of the parking on Roseville St is shown on the map link below ->

We were parked off road / behind a protruding wall, photo below . . .

Please find the PCN on the following links ->

Can we challenge this PCN purely on the basis that the vehicle registration is incorrect?

Many thanks in advance for any help with this issue.

Kind regards,

Simon

Why bother challenging it ? Their next step if no response is received to the PCN is to serve a Notice to Owner on the keeper of the vehicle as shown on the V5C.

I REGRET THAT, FOR THE PRESENT, I AM UNABLE TO TAKE ON ANY MORE CASES AS A REPRESENTATIVE AT THE LONDON TRIBUNALS. THIS IS FOR BOTH PERSONAL AND LEGAL REASONS. PLEASE DO NOT PM ME UNLESS YOU HAVE POSTED YOUR THREAD ON THE FORUM AND I WILL ATTEMPT TO GIVE ADVICE.

There are "known knowns" which we may never have wished to know. This applies to them. But in the field the idea that there are also "unknown unknowns" doesn't apply as they hide in the aleatoric lottery. I know this is true and need to be prepared knowing the "unknown unknowns" may well apply.

You beat me to it. Do nothing.

The two photos in the original post are the front of the PCN, these are the rear . . .

So you think the best thing to do is just ignore it? Is there any comeback if they took pictures and get my registration details from there?

Incorrect registration number is a fatal error on the PCN. In contrast, make and model of car is not a legal requirement on the PCN. Looks like the CEO is a complete dumbo, or on his first day on patrol after training, (assuming they do train them).

No they can't reissue the PCN.

However please keep thr PCN safe and report back in the unlikely event that you do receive a Notice to Owner.

MJ58URS is a taxed Ford and we usually say it's courteous to email the parking dept saying you found a PCN on your car with this registration but it isn't yours. You don't have to give your full name. This may prevent someone receiving an NTO and having to deal with it.
