Author Topic: Barnet, Code 01 Parked in a restricted street, Hodford Road - leaves covering road markings  (Read 258 times)

Hi,

Last Sunday I parked on Hodford Road. It was already dark and yes, I did see the restricted street signs at the start of the road as I drove in. However, I passed a bay with a curbside parking sign and chose not to park there. Further down the street, there were no visible road markings or curbside parking signs, so I believed this part of the street to be out of the restricted parking.
When I returned to my car, I had a PCN. On further investigation, I realised that there was actually a single yellow line where I had parked, but this was obscured by thick leaves. There was no curbside parking signage.

Is this worth an appeal?

Many thanks

The CEO's pic isn't very clear about a yellow line but they will say you were on notice it is in a controlled zone when you passed a zone entry sign. Well worth a challenge though to see if they can defend lines covered by leaves.

Thanks for your response!
To clarify, do there need to be road markings to enforce this type of restriction do you know?

Yes, to get a yellow line contravention there must be a yellow line. If it is obscured that's a good challenge and their pics don't help them.

Just to update, Barnet have cancelled this PCN!
Thanks so much for all your help!

Sometimes one can be thankful for lack of street cleaning.

Is it just me, or are we seeing more cancellations than normal ? Can the Spirit of Christmas has finally penetrated the stone hearts of enforcement authorities ?
