Haringey PCN Code 21 parked in suspended bay
« on: »
Ever grateful for everyone's help. Unfortunately car was parked in a suspended bay - they didn't actually notice the sign even though it is prominent and obvious from the pictures that it was there. No mitigating circumstances, just saw the available space and parked up (and not the sign!). The only 'excuse' I can think of is that the signage, although states the loading and disabled bay is suspended, it then states o/s 91, 93, 95. The car was parked outside property 99, which is a further two shops along (see google maps). The yellow shop is property 95, the middle of McDonalds is 99, where the car was parked. However, the space where the car was parked is the only disabled bay. Is there any way to say the signage is misleading in that we thought it was only outside the specific properties mentioned or is this a lost cause?! ticket also says parked outside 95 when the car was not...

Thank you

If the car was parked outside No 99, and the suspension covers 91-95, then the contravention did not occur.

So submit representations on those lines, and post up their reply when received.

Something on the lines of:

Dear Sirs

Pcn <PCN Number> dated <date> at High Road, Haringey

I deny liability for the above PCN on the grounds that the contravention did not occur.  My car was parked outside No 99 but the parking suspension sign states that the suspension applies between Nos 91-95.

Yours faithfully

There is no need to put anything more, as this is an informal challenge.

Don't worry if the council rejects, 99% of informal representations are refused with a fob-off letter because most people simply give up and pay at that point, so the council has no reason to give it much thought. Just post the rejection on here when you get it.
