Misspelt V5c received a PCN bus lane
« on: »
Hi, I've received a PCN from council for bus lane contravention.

However the PCN is with the name spelt wrong. So for example say my name is spelt Ben Larem the V5c is showing as Bem Laren. And so is the PCN since they get there information from DVLA.

Would this PCN still be valid and need paying or could they still chase me for it? I wasn't even the one driving.

I don't think the mistake you use as an example would invalidate the PCN. The registered keeper is responsible on receipt of the V5C for checking its accuracy.

For meaningful advice, please to have a read of
https://www.ftla.uk/civil-penalty-charge-notices-(councils-tfl-and-so-on)/read-this-first-before-posting-your-case!-this-section-is-for-council-tfl-dartme/

and post up here all sides of the PCN, redacting only yr name & address - leave everything else in, and also a GSV link to the location.

Nevertheless, in law the r.k. is responsible for paying/challenging a PCN.

The council use the name and address info supplied by the DVLA, so if your name is wrong on your PCN, it suggests your name is wrong on your V5, and the person responsible for that information is yourself, nobody else.

I've sold the car, so it's not even in my possession. The person I sold it to got the pcn. I didn't transfer it over quick enough.
