PCN from APCOA at Stansted Airport / Drove through pick up zone no stopping

Hi All,

On the 06/08/2026 I accidentally crossed the pick up/drop off zone without stopping, I was heading to the mid-stay parking area but I got on the wrong entry given it was the first time driving to Stansted and the time being 00:30.
After I passed through the pick up/ drop off zone, without stopping, I did go to the mid-stay parking and parker the car there for nearly 1 hour and obviously paid, and have proof of payment if that's of any help.

I have now received a PCN from APCOA, issued on 13/08/2026 and only received yesterday on 20/08/2026 asking £100 or £60 if paying within 14 days from the date of issue.

I am hoping this can be rightfully appealed, and if that is the case, I would be grateful for some help.
I am aware several APCOA cases have been submitted here re: airport PCNs but I am not sure what appeal template letter I should use or if the fact that I just passed through the pick up/ drop off area without stopping and having paid for the mid-stay parking is relevant to the case.

I have attached a copy of the PCN received.

It doesn't matter what you did or didn't do. You're pointing out that the PCN is invalid, and as long as the driver isn't identified you - as registered keeper - can't be held liable.

It looks as if they're not even bothering to mention PoFA 2012 on the PCN, although you've only shown us half of it.

As in just about all APCOA airport cases, your appeal should be on the basis of it not being “relevant land”, so the liability can not be transferred to the registered keeper from the driver, and the driver has not and will not be identified. APCOA normally cancel, but even if they don’t cancel they don’t take people to court.

They have sent the notification via e-mail on 09/09/2026, so it took roughly 1 month.
