Hi all, grateful for some advice.

I’ve received a PCN ‘01 Parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours’ for parking in what appeared to be a parking area on Riverside Rd in Richmond, North Yorks. Approx 13:40 on a Saturday (14 Sep).

As shown on the Google Streetview link below, it’s a large bay off to the side of the road behind double yellow lines (DYL). It can easily accommodate several cars without impinging onto the road or touching the DYL. Four other cars were also parked there, all of whom also received PCNs.

No signage on the road or in the ‘bay’ relating to parking. No signage at the western entrance to the road either indicating it’s a restricted street. Just the DYL on the road itself.

Ironically I thought I’d lucked out after failing to get RingGo to cooperate at the nearby car park!

Cheers,
RTS

I think cases at a number of such locations where there are Tarmaced bays shut off by double yellows have been won at adjudication, but can't recall one of the well-known ones.

Google Maps going back in time shows a lot of cars used to park there but probably the authority has carried out periodic blitzes.

Unambiguous signage/road marking are needed.
